The Beatles aren't on Spotify

We are all aware by now that Spotify is the place to be. Any music, any time, free. That isn't actually true though, the "any music" bit. The biggest band in the world ever, aren't on Spotify. Get a grip Jonathan.

Anyone else not on Spotify who really ought to be?

  1. These are artists that don't wanna be on Spotify.

From the Spotify faq: The Beatles, Metallica, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, AC/DC.

I also know that Tool has opted out.

As for The Beatles, you won't find them anywhere digital yet...

I'm sure The Beatles were on MySpace at one point?

  3. it is indeed a shame that a groups like the beatles arent on spotify. However it also important to respect their right to dissassosiate themselfs from this program aswell. They might also have realised that by doing this it makes them more uniqe than all of the other artist who are on spotify and would therefore encourage more people to just go out and buy their music ;p (i personally hope that they put them on spotify anyway)

  4. Oh well. If these bands (Or their managers/estates in the case of the Beatles et. al) don't want to be part of the greatest revolution in music distribution since the invention of the gramophone, that's their look-out.

  6. Bands and labels not on Spotify are fucking morons. Of course, I don't know the exact ins and outs of royalties, but it's ludicrous to snub it - What do they think is going to happen, loads of people are going to buy their £14 CDs as they can't hear them on there? No, of course not, they're just not going to bother and listen to something else instead.

The music industry and listening habits of fans are changing almost weekly and dinosaur labels and / or bands that decide to not be a part of it are missing out. Let them miss out, fuck 'em. As if we all need to hear Sgt. Pepper or Stairway to Heaven again anyway.

Spotify is all about new music and those old tunes that are rarely known that you forgot about for years. The only reason why I'm remotely bugged by their absence is the arrogance or complete lack of judgement on their part. As if they've got it right, standing above the scrambling Spotify ant farm gafforing at how much better they are than the rest of the artists who choose to join. Wankers.

  7. I don't think McCartney has any objection to it...all his solo stuff is on there.

  8. McCartney solo stuff USED to be on there, but Ram and McCartney have recently been removed. I am very sad :(

  9. Led Zeppelin. Oasis. Dylan is severely lacking. Later Red Hot Chili Peppers' albums. Tool. King Crimson. I know there are a couple others.

It's a small price to pay tho, Spotify is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy.

  10. Most of these artists who aren't on Spotify are very difficult to ignore. I mean if I were some kid, just getting into music. I download Spotify to do so, then I hear how influential The Beatles or Led Zeppelin were, so I go to any of the hundreds of people I know, who will undoubtedly have a CD I can borrow. I copy the tracks off this CD as many times as I wish.

Not being on Spotify will soon mean not being on the shelves of HMV.
